WRITE participates in the Third Conference of European Association for Asian Art and Archeology (EAAA)

    From 13 to 17 September 2023 the WRITE team will participate in the Third Conference of European Association for Asian Art and Archeology which will be held at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The panel entitled “New Forms of Calligraphy in Contemporary China” is composed of three interventions: 1) “New forms of calligraphy in China from “abstract” painting to graffiti art” presented by the Principal Investigator Adriana Iezzi. The intervention will give an overview of these new forms of calligraphy and outlines their main characteristics, proposing a media-based classification into four categories (“fine and contemporary arts”, applied and decorative arts, performing arts, and graffiti art); 2) Calligraphy and Performance Art in Contemporary China presented by the PhD student Martina Merenda. The intervention will provide an overview of the development of Chinese calligraphy within the contemporary performing arts; 3) THE NEW ERA OF CHINESE GRAFFITI: bombing, calligraphy and emotional expressions along the streets presented by the PhD Student Marta R. Bisceglia. The intervention will provide an overview of the use of Chinese writing and calligraphy in contemporary graffiti across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
