WRITE Paper selected for the Tag Conference 2020

    The paper “Tagging and Calligraphic Practice in Beijing’s Graffiti” by the WRITE Principal Investigator Adriana Iezzi was selected for the Tag Conference 2020. In this paper, she analyzes how the art of Chinese ancient calligraphy influences contemporary graffiti tagging in Beijing, focusing on the works of some of the most important Beijing crews/writers.   

    The Tag Conference is an international conference on contemporary tagging and its historical antecedents. The topic of the Tag Conference 2020 is “Tag: Name Writing in Public Space”.  

    This edition of the conference was originally scheduled to take place on 22 and 23 October 2020, but was then postponed to 2021 and now to a later date.
